2012: A Ruff Review

Woof out from the winery you guys! Max here!

I know it’s hard to believe, but 2012 is over and 2013 is off and running. So I wanted to take a few minutes and recap some of the highlights — at least in my humble opinion. Of course this will include Rubie’s opinions too, but since I’ve got the keyboard. Well, it will be mostly me. I’m actually gonna turn over the computer to her so she can tell you her resolutions, assuming I can rouse her from her nap.

Rubie napping? Ah HAH! Fooled ya! It's a new skill she's perfecting for 2013. It looks like she's sleeping but in reality she's got her ear to the floor listening for food to fall somewhere in the winery!

I want to start with some of our best parties, because as you know parties= dancing + snax.

Our Birthday Bash around the 4th of July was slammin. Bands, bands, bands! We had 10 hours of music by 5 groups so that was some serious tail shakin for me! And brother was it hot!! I actually had to cool off in the pond a few times, and you know I’m not the swimmer of the group. Of course Rubie was in and out of the water all day between snax scammin and I’ll tell you she smelled ripe! You wanted to stay down wind of her for sure! People hurled down their food for her and ran for cover. (P.S. We made out like bandits. Thank you!)

Me hydrating between bands. Much less stinky than pond swimming!

The Hallo-wine Spooktacular was rockin too! Everyone was duded up in their cool themed Gods, Goddesses and Monsters costumes. My fave was Big Bird. I guess he passed for a god of Educational TV. Rube’s fave was any costume carrying trays of food. Does that surprise you?

Ya gotta hand it to her, not only does she NOT do trix, she gets the humans to do trix AND still feed her. Well played Rubester!

Then just before Christmas, we had our staff party and that was just a feeding frenzy! Of course the goddesses of the Café outdid themselves with platters upon platters of food! Then everyone brought a dish and there were some creative and wonderful addendums to the menu. Rubie and I glommed onto our typical marks (uh I mean friends) and got scads of handouts all night! And there were bunches of games for the humans to play, which quite frankly made for nice distraction. They’d sit their plates down to make fools of themselves, and whammo me and Rubie swept in for the kill (or I guess fill would be the right way to put it).

So one of the games was fishing, and this is how dumb that poser cat Puffy is. She climbed into the middle of the pool and said she was catching fish in a barrel. They're PAPER you poser!

Now I’d like to give a shout out to some of our new friends we made this past year. Particularly to those of the female persuasion. (Please hum the song “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before” by Willie Nelson as you stroll down memory lane with me…

Sweet Casey!

These were but a few of the beautiful ladies I danced, drank water and ate snax with. Ah, the memories….

But I drift…

Back on the subject of food, I’d also like to relive some of the food highlights from around here, courtesy of the Café Queens. Now of course the party fare was off the hook, but I gotta tell ya these ladies came up with some amazing dishes all year round! First off they created sheer edible genius for the two Restaurant Weeks we participated in this year. NEVER have I been so happy to have the title of “Taster in Chief” as I was during the weeks leading up to those events!

And as if that isn’t awesome enuff, the girls have created Pizza Nite every Friday nite! Listen, I found out about this and my heart simply skipped a beat! In addition to the regular menu the high priestesses of the kitchen create three gourmet pizzas for you (which really means Me and Rubie) to choose from! You can either take out or eat in. I suggest you eat in because quite frankly that gives Rubie and me a better shot of hittin you up for a piece. But seriously, one of these bad boys make a great meal for two or a nice appie for the table while the band is play from 6-8.  Seriously try it out this Friday! We’ve got Bob & Dee as our first 2013 Friday Happy Hour Concert and the ladies will post the Pizzas on the Café’s Facebook Page in advance!

Music and a slice. Friday's are awesome round here!

Of course Sunday is still — and god-willing, forEVer — Brunch Day from 11-3, wrapping just before the Sunday band starts at 4 and goes til 6. As does dinner service. So if ya can’t make it Friday come on in for Brunch Sunday morning, or the Band and an early dinner Sunday afternoon! This Sunday my bud Dave Raducha is rocking it out and I loves dancin to him. Come on in and dance with me. If you’re anything like me and Rubes you couldn’t possibly have burned off all those holiday calories yet. So a few hours of tail shakin is a fun way to do it! Fear not, I’ll lead!

Max wagging his groove thing!

Me shakin my groove thing!

Well guess that’s bout it for me. All this food talk has made me a bit fah-mooshed so I’m gonna see what kinda leftovers we got over in the house. Gotta rouse the Seal out of the snowbank. I told her if she fails to pitch in with the blog this week, she’ll just have to air her 2013 resolutions next week. She just hrr-rumphed and rolled over. She’ll see. There’s no gettin away from it!

Well lemme go get her up and we’ll see you over the weekend!

Woof out!
