Happy Birthday Max!
Woofies All! Rubie here. Yes I know it’s been a while, but I feel like I might be over my writer’s block, so I wanted to post to tell you my boy Maxie is turning 15 this week. Can you believe it? Still a handsome devil no? And we’re throwing him a party at the winery this Friday! If you’re in the area you’re invited to come join us. Chef Jen from the Café is making her special biscuits for the occasion and The Pelotones are playing from 6-8 with their Jazz, Blues and R&B. And you know how Max likes to dance! So he’s sure to be on the dance floor most of the night, but I’m sure you’ll have a chance to pull him aside and smother him in birthday love! So it’s going to be a dog-gone good time. (Sorry, couldn’t help myself. Hehe.)
You guys have already been coming in to wish the old man a happy birthday. Max got a really early birthday visitor this past summer. His real sister, Snickers, came to visit. She still looks great too. Good genes in that family for sure.
The other day we had Charlie swing by and visit. He’s just the cutest little 12-week old chocolate lab, like us!
Earlier last week, Sheila came by to give Max birthday kisses. What a big girl she was. Max seemed quite smitten, but then you know he is a lady’s man.
You would think it would be quieter around here, being the frigid winter and all. So needless to say I’ve not been swimming in the pond. Max and I have been hanging out in the Café in front of the woodstove on the days they’re closed, which is Monday through Wednesday. Which, while I can’t get a snackie that day, at least we can stay nice and toasty by the fire.
But things don’t slow down in the winery at all. Doesn’t matter how cold it is. Which is good for my snack scamming. I just give visitors the eye, and they deposit food right in front of me. And we’ve been getting a lot of visitors this month because the winery is throwing the Winter White Snowball Fight, which means they’re facing off two of their double gold winning whites, to see which is the people’s favorite — the Apparition and the Semi-dry Riesling. Not that I care about the wine, but that does certainly mean extra snacking opportunities for me.
Now before you start judging me on my eating habits, I want you to know I’ve lost 12 pounds! And everyone has been complimenting me on my new svelte figure. But if you come to the party Friday, you can see for yourself. If you can imagine, I’m even better looking than I was before.
So seriously though, come by Friday. I know it would mean alot to Max, and I promise you and your people a good time. There’s cake for the humans, and oh did I mention snackies for us?
Well that’s it for now. This wore me out and I feel a nap coming on, so I better run. Well more like saunter over to the woodstove and curl up with Max. But I promise I’ll be all ready for the party with bells on!
See you Friday!
